Travel Insurance during
Pregnancy

Taking a trip before your baby is born will give you a chance to relax as you prepare to welcome your new addition. Whilst pregnancy is not a medical condition, you may have concerns about travel insurance cover in case of any problems arising before or during your trip, so ensure that you have a comprehensive policy which includes unexpected complications of pregnancy.

In addition to buying high quality travel insurance cover, you should check whether the airline or travel provider has any restrictions relating to pregnancy; many airlines will have limits affecting when you can travel, especially for long-haul flights.

UK residents: If you do not have any complications affecting your pregnancy and will not be travelling beyond 28 weeks, you do not need to declare pregnancy to us when purchasing cover. Of course, if you would like to discuss the cover with us for reassurance, we will be pleased to help.

If you will be travelling beyond 28 weeks, have any medical condition which could impact on your pregnancy, or have experienced complications in a previous pregnancy, please contact us so that we can go through the medical screening with you and discuss insurance options. International residents: If live outside of the UK, the travel insurance we offer has a limit of 20 weeks for claims relating to pregnancy. If you are fit to travel, you can still buy insurance after that point, but there will be no cover for pregnancy and childbirth.
